When NHC decided to start importing the Royale mobility scooter they surely couldn’t have known what a wonderful partnership they were forming. In Heartway NHC have a partner who is the undisputed leader in cutting edge mobility technology. Manufactured in their Taiwanese factory Heartways scooters are designed and engineered for the toughest mobility market of them all – the United States.

Heartway have been leading the way for years with the ever popular Royale, distrubuted in the UK as the Freerider Royale, but they haven’t been resting on their laurels. Earlier this summer saw the launch of the Vita S12, which ended up being imported to the UK by TGA (distributer of the Breeze and Supersport by Aifikim) as the TGA Vita but that wasn’t the end of the new scooters for this year.

The Aviator (Freerider Aviator in the UK) is a heavy duty 8 mile per hour mobility scooter featuring some stunning styling and a number of tasty extras. Like the rest of the S range the looks are more akin to motor bikes than mobility scooters, with angular fairings over the tiller and chevron motifs repeated throught out the design. Like the Vita and the Royale the Aviator is fitted with a plush captains seat adjustable for and aft to provide the perfect ride position.

Unlike the the Vita which came with front wishbone suspension and a single post in the rear, the Aviator is supplied with double wishbone suspension. This is fairly revolutionary in the mobility market and is likely to be a major selling point for those who value comfort and ride quality above all else.

As with most modern mobility scooters the lighting is an all LED affair. Excellent brightness and energy efficiency make this a no brainer for anyone speccing a new scooter. The stylish v shaped headlamp is another nice touch that again raise this scooter above the ordinary.

The controls of the Aviator are centred on a wrap around delta tiller and feature and LCD display showing speed and battery level as expected as well as the time and temerature. Breaking duties are performed electro mechanically, and as required by British law are suplemented by a mechanical hand brake.

The Aviator is driven by a 700 watt 4 pole motor powered by dual 12 volt 50 Ah batteries that give it an excellent 28 mile range (mileage may vary according to load and conditions of course).

With a top speed of eight miles per hour and a maximum carrying weight of nearly twenty eight stone the NHC Freerider Avaitor S8 is a true top of the range mobility scooter. Like the Royale before it the Aviator is destined to be a top scooter for many years to come.
