Sell Your Craft Online And Make Money

Category: CraftsCrissy Pinkston @ 2:57 pm

For a lot of people, they make crafts simply because it is enjoyable to them but did you know it is very easy to turn that hobby into selling crafts for money?

What do you need to do to sell your crafts online?

First you need to find a place to sell your craft. I would recommend selling them at Etsy. The reason for this is because Etsy is a marketplace for handmade crafts and crafting supplies. Not only that but they are very inexpensive to list your crafts in your craft store.

Another reason is that it is fairly simple to set up your store. You do not need a lot of computer savvy to create a store at Etsy. If you are technology inclined you can also easily personalize your store which is always a good thing to do so your store stands apart from the rest.

So what do you do after you get your store set up?

A common mistake people make is that they set up there craft store and then they do… nothing. And they sit and wait and wonder why they are not selling anything. Now the common reason for this is because they simply do not know what else to do. However you are going to know better.

After you set up your craft store it becomes time to market your store.

Now don’t go panicking on me!

Marketing your craft store is not nearly as hard to do as you think and no where near as expensive as it would be to market a bricks and mortar store.

In fact, there are many ways you can market your store for free.

Yep, you heard me right.

Of course if you wanted to you can pay to have your store marketed for you which some people do because it is quicker then learning how to do it for themselves.

One of the most crucial things when learning how to sell crafts for money is marketing your online business. This is not as difficult as you might think nor is it costly but without it you will have a difficult time running a prosperous craft store.

Why You Should Add A Retractable Awning To Your Home

Category: CraftsSimon Kranes @ 5:51 pm

The addition of a retractable awning can make quite a difference on your home. You’ll begin to notice that the electric bills during the hot summer months will decrease. You’ll also create a new and enhanced look to your home. In this article I’ll discuss the different benefits that a high-quality retractable awning will provide.

With awnings on the windows or a single retractable awning, you’re creating protection for your outdoor and indoor space. The indoor space is protected by the shade created from the awning, which will prevent any furnishings from sun damage. On the outdoor side of it, you’re skin will be protected from the sun and you’ll be able to enjoy the shade on demand. To protect from the rain, always search for water resistant fabric.

It’s been said that the energy bills will decrease up to 25% during the summer. Since the awnings will protect the room, you won’t need to use your AC as often. Rooms that face south or west get the most sun, so it’s recommended the windows of these rooms have awnings. Temperatures in these rooms can reduce up to 75% with an awning.

Awnings and retractable awnings will also create a lovely look to your home. Always choose something that matches the style of your house and it will complement the look. With a retractable awning, you can create more living space. You’re able to create a space without having to do any construction!

The installation process is quite simple and doesn’t require much help (unless you’re not handy!). Be sure to find a product with a long warranty. If the awning lasts for at least 10 years, then it ends up being a great investment! Some awnings will require more maintenance the others, so keep this in mind when shopping around.

Retractable awnings tend to be more durable than just a simple canopy. With the option to retract, you’re able to keep them away from any potential harm to the materials. Conditions such as snow, hail, rain, heavy wind can all damage an awning or canopy if it’s not protected. The arms can easily snap on an awning from accumulating snow fall. With the ability to retract the awning, you should have no problem keeping the awning in great shape for years!

Awnings will vary in size and the bigger they are, typically they get more expensive. Amazon.com carries medium sized awnings starting around $500+, while their larger awnings start at $900+. Motorized awnings are also a great option, but are more expensive. They typically start at $1,500+.

There’s nothing better than pulling out the awning on a nice summer day. Having the option to get some shade is a beautiful thing! I hope this guide has helped you learn about awnings. Make sure you take the time to shop around since there are many options available!

This writer is a specialist on creating custom patios and always includes a deck awning. His blog will inform you on the awning cleaning process as well as much more information in regards to awnings.

A lot of people, and therefore some children, will be more tactile than they are mental. To explain, they will learn easier, are generally better able to concentrate, stay calmer, and/or usually are better able to pay attention, if their hands are kept busy.

Many students are going to be very disruptive inside a classroom when their hands aren\’t kept busy. A handful of children are going to bother their siblings and get into trouble for the same reasons. Knitting can be an solution.

Get off to a good start with teaching a child to knit by way of selecting a project that holds plenty of interest for the child. With the popularity of cell phones, iPods, as well as Palm Pilots, for instance, small cases for each are generally knit up rather quickly.

In the event the child plays a instrument, he can knit a case for his / her flute or recorder, as an example. If the child has a favorite doll, a poncho or even blanket may be knit.

The next choice to be made is yarn. Let the child choose, though be sure the options are all washable, non-shrinking yarns. You should be able to toss the finished project into the washing machine anytime it becomes soiled.

Furthermore, any yarn with a tight twist to it is going to be less difficult for the beginner to knit with out splitting stitches.

When the actual project and also yarns are decided on, then your needles will have to be chosen. Needle size often depends on the texture of the actual fabric you wish to knit. With regard to beginning knitters, larger needles, say size 8 and up, will be the simplest to make use of. Additionally, the needles should be the shortest types available.

If the actual child isn\’t really confused by a circular needle, a short one of size Eight or even above could be the ideal option. As soon as the knitting session is over for the day, the ends of the needle can be twisted in to a half-knot and simply no stitches can slip off while the project sits waiting around to be picked up and knitting resumed.

The two main problems a child learning to knit has are generally knitting far too tightly, together with splitting stitches. Children tend to be always perplexed whenever they finish a row and have more stitches upon the actual needle than they started out with. By simply carefully observing plus pointing out the problem, one can easily assist them prevent this specific mistake.

The very same is true of knitting tightly. Help remind them of which knitting is supposed to be relaxing, and not to pull the yarn too tightly. In the event that you observe them as they knit, you could show them that moment right before they remove the actual stitch from the left-hand needle, when they may pull on their stitch and help to make it a tiny bit looser.

Practice along with paying attention to how it feels to knit, and thus \’teaching\’ your hands exactly how it feels whenever it\’s done right, are usually really the best ways in order to get past these problems and grow to be an ace knitter.

The actual enjoyment upon their faces whenever they\’ve created some thing with their own hands is actually the actual reward for all those clumsy moments.

Easy Soap Making Recipes: Great For Kids!

Category: CraftsEugene Smith @ 10:09 pm

If you are looking for easy soap making recipes, look no further. Soap creation is a variable craft that can either be very easy or extremely complicated, depending on the recipe. The following suggestions for basic techniques and ingredients are by no means exhaustive. They are instead simple soap-making ideas that are great for kids and adults alike.

Before making your soap, you should be sure that you have all of the ingredients needed. Glycerin soap, molds, dyes, and perfumes are necessary for making soap. Also, items that you probably have in your kitchen that are needed are microwave-safe measuring cups and double boilers. Rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle and small toys can also be used for soap creation.

Before starting the process, you should decide whether you want to melt your soap in your microwave or on your stove. You will use the microwave-safe measuring cup for the microwave and the double boiler for the stove.

Next, cut the glycerin soap into pieces to melt. This will speed up the melting process. Then melt the soap in the microwave or on the stove. Heat it ONLY until it is fully melted – do not let it sit in a melted state for too long. This means you should watch it melt very carefully.

When your soap has melted you can add perfume or colors. You may need to work on this a bit before you get it the way you want. Also, you can add other ingredients, but no toys yet.

When you are finished with adding all of your ingredients into the melted soap, pour it into a mold. If putting an object inside your soap, only fill the mold a bit. After it has set slightly, place your object on top of the soap in the mold. Then spray some alcohol over it (if you have it), and finish filling the mold.

If making soap without an object, pour the mixture straight into your mold. It should be hardened for about an hour before you remove it.

Spend Your Free Time Wisely Through Soap Making

Category: CraftsJen Hopkins @ 7:38 pm

Do you ever get tired of the boring soaps that you have at home – the usual bar-shaped ones that you use when you shower or wash your hands? Then soap making is a hobby that you should try considering. Soap need not be an instrument that you use for cleaning only. It can also serve as a decoration to beautify your bathroom. Some carefully crafted soaps are so nice that you won\’t even want to use them in the shower.

Some ingredients that you will need as a beginner are lye and some fats. The basic properties of the soap that you are going to make will depend on the type of oil that you use. Using coconut oil will produce soap that makes a good amount of lather. Vegetables oils will produce soap that is soft while olive oils make soap that is much milder than using other vegetable oils. Lye on the other hand, is used to hydrolyze the oils to yield fatty acids and glycerol.

Soap making can be done through the cold process or the hot process. Both are relatively simple to do and once you are done, the pre-formed soap will be ready for you to design in whatever way you want. For the hot process, mix lye and water while heating the fat in a separate container. Add the lye water to the fat and continue heating for two hours until your soap is ready. The cold process is almost the same, without having to heat the fat. Just add the fat to lye water and mix until cool. This can then be poured into molds depending on what shape you like.

Other things that can be added to your pre-formed soap mixture are fragrance oils or dyes. An example is using citrus fragrance oils if you plan on making soap that is designed to look like an orange. Dyes can also be used creatively to achieve an attractive design. A simple tie dye effect could be achieved by using a stick to stir the dye along with the soap mixture then waiting for it harden.

Even though soap making may seem an easy and safe activity to do, you should always remember that lye is a dangerous substance. It has a strong corrosive effect that could cause burns or blindness on prolonged contact. Fumes are also harmful when inhaled. Gloves and masks should always be used when dealing with this material.

Soap making is a fun hobby to do. Don\’t worry if you are having a hard time in getting the hang of it at first, through practice and trail and error, you will certainly be making beautifully crafted soaps in no time.

Scrapbooking Albums

Category: CraftsAlexis Kenne @ 4:42 am

Scrapbooking has been long introduced to bring out the artistic skills of most people. It was formally introduced in 1826 through the publication of the first how-to create a scrapbook in Germany. Since then, it has become part of history that eventually brought people together who share the same hobby.

Once you have chosen your size, it is time to choose your type of album. Strap-bound albums hold the pages through rubber straps and a metal hinge that is attached to the scrapbook page. These tend to hold up very well and as long as the album is not over-filled, when you open the page, you will have a two-page spread that lays flat. This works very well when you want a design that spreads over two pages. However, if you need to change the order of the pages or add one in the middle of the book, you will have to disassemble the entire book. If you are using a post-bound scrapbook album, plan your pages carefully before you begin.

Scrapbooking is all about compiling fond memories in a tangible format. A scrapbooking album can put a nice finishing touch on the work you have created. There are many albums available to achieve this goal, for example you can get a mini album depending on what you

It is also important to keep your album simple and not to make it too complicated. The key is to have fun and get creative – after all it is an adventure of past events organized in a way that tells the story over time. By the way it does not have to be perfect, what’s more important is the story and how you relate to it.

You can make ABC scrapbooking albums very simply if you just get creative with your words and phrases, and make sure to include that particular letter throughout the page. Mix up your lettering style from large block letters to script style. If you get stuck on certain letters, such as X, Q or Z, don’t hesitate to cheat a little and check the dictionary, or take some creative license. X can be “x-tra special” or “x-cellent.” After all, the entire point of any scrapbooking project is to be creative and whimsical

Various themes for scrapbooks can include baby themes, vacations, parties, baby showers, weddings, engagements, and many others. If you want to remember the event, then create a scrapbook.

When you first purchase your scrapbook, it is nice to have an idea of what type of pictures you are going to put inside of it. For example, if you are making a scrapbook for your baby’s birthday, then you might want to purchase a scrapbook with balloons and ribbons on it. You can find a scrapbook anywhere online, and basically anywhere else that photo albums are sold. There are shops that sell scrapbooking supplies in most every state in America. They are usually small businesses that are located either in a strip mall or on a main street somewhere locally.

One of the things you are going to need is a pair of scissors. Since scrapbooking involves creativity, scissors can come in quite handy. Just focus more on the creativity of the book if you do not have enough pictures. Every scrapbook is different and unique in it’s own way. That is what it is all about.

Letters and stickers can provide individuality to your scrapbook as well. If you are doing a baby themed scrapbook, consider purchasing some baby themed stickers that you can use on the scrapbook pages. There are various sizes and styles of lettering out there that you can purchase as well. They make it easier than drawing or having to cut letters on your own for your scrapbooking needs.

Any other things you want to put inside of your scrapbook? There are many people that put in wedding invitations, movie tickets, and more in their scrapbooks. This is all up to you. You can even add glitter, buttons, paint, ribbon, feathers, and more to add some artistry to your scrapbook. The more creative you get with it, the better your scrapbook is going to be.

Of course it can take quite a bit of time to scrapbook. Since scrapbooking does take quite a bit of time, it does make a wonderful hobby that can last for some time. While it will take awhile to make your pages, when they are all complete, you’ll have a wonderful masterpiece that will preserve those memories forever.
