I highly recommend people who would like to get a pen pal to try International Pen Friends. The organization promotes the art of letters writing. Although now I seldom write, I do think this is a good way to get a pen pal.

I remember that I looked forward everyday to receiving my pen pals’ letter. Sometimes they sent me little gifts. I had a pen pal from Norway, he loves reading a lot. Once he shared with me a story about a man who was the last survivor from a slaughter in the tribe. That was great.

Having a pen pal from exotic areas like Pitairn Island was an interesting experience. The most recent inhabitants in the area are the descendants of the HMAV County. Their history and culture are very fascinating indeed.

The best way to communicate is by writing letters, at least for me. However, technology develops, people now seldom write letters, we choose to use email. Personally I like chatting with people on the Yahoo! Groups. That’s so marvelous that I have had a chance to chat with a boy from Pitcairn!

I had a few pen pals that I knew from Yahoo! Group that are from the Pitcairn, I love chatting with them about the Pitcairn areas. Yahoo! did help me make many friends from different parts of the world.

Although I did not frequently write to my pen pals, sometimes I will choose to email them. But of course emails cannot replace the power of letters writing as letters can show our passion and make our friendship more remarkable.

The website-Interpals also provides a good platform for us to meet new online pen pals. I knew my Japanese pen pal through this website and it is trustworthy. You can meet people around the globe.

Facebook and MySpace are good choices too. Some people use blocks on Facebook and MySpace, this actually hinders the broadening of their social circle. As long as we are careful when accepting friend requests, we could still enjoy making new friends through these sites.
