Deciding on a Baby Gift

Category: ParentingEmily Tanner @ 7:32 pm

When it comes to choosing a baby gift, there is so much choice out there so where do you start? Having too much choice is often more of a hindrance than a help as it makes that all-important decision even more difficult. Silverware, ceramics, plush toys, rattles, photo-frames, clothing, shoes, keepsakes…the list is endless. However, before you start thinking about which item to purchase, you must consider exactly who the recipient is you are purchasing for. Should you choose something for the baby to play with or a keepsake that mum can store until the child is old enough to appreciate it?

It is important to be sure when choosing a gift, whether you are choosing it for the mother or the child. Certain items that you can buy are more geared to either the mum or the baby.

In other words, you could select a beautiful keepsake box in which mum can store cute trinkets, treasures, baby’s hospital bracelet and his first lock of hair. This will be a beautiful gift that will be adored, especially if mum is a sentimental individual who will relish looking through the little keepsakes years after her child has left home. This will also be an item that will be well loved by the child themselves albeit at a later date.

A practical gift is always a wise choice; namely something like a silver birth certificate holder or a ceramic first tooth pot. Silverware and ceramic items can be a little more costly but one can expect a certain level of quality when buying such an item. These types of baby gift are therefore ideal for Christenings, Baptisms and naming ceremonies.

Alternatively, choose a little blanket or teddy that the newborn can enjoy straight away. This can be the child’s favourite thing; something which you hope he will take everywhere and never be without. By choosing a gift like this our inner child will be nurtured as we recall our own special teddy or blankie from our own childhood…

In conclusion, when it comes to choosing the perfect baby gift you must be clear about who you are actually buying for – a keepsake to treasure for mum or a ‘can’t do without’ type gift the baby. Either way, if it’s a gift that you have chosen with love, it will be loved by the recipient too.

Baby Shower Invitations – An Important Part of the Celebration

Category: Baby ShowersStevie Nichols @ 2:12 pm

Throwing a baby shower for a friend or loved one is a huge gesture of love. While you are doing the party preparations you may be wondering if you need formal baby shower invitations or if an e-vite or phone call is enough. The right thing to do is send invitations. As with any other event an invitation is the way to go and a baby shower is no exception. Baby shower invitations are a delightful surprise in the mail and they give guests the information they need.

Baby shower invitations are a great way to show you guests that you really do care about their presence at your event. They are a physical reminder to your guests that you invested time and money into getting them to the baby shower. Phone calls and emails do not demonstrate your desire for your guests to be there quite the way a fabulous invitation does.

Another great reason to send out baby shower invitations; your guests will have a beautiful keepsake from the shower. There will probably be other shower favors handed out, but none of them will fit so well in photo albums and scrapbooks. Baby shower invitations are even pretty enough for mom and grandma to frame.

If the baby shower is not a surprise, you will want to include the mother-to-be in the process of choosing the invitations. She will only have one baby shower for this baby and the invitations need to reflect her personal taste and style.

A woman who likes frilly, girly decorations will not like baby shower invitations that have a stark, bold modern design. Mom’s who like modern design and art will not be happy with flowery, frilly invitations. She will want something with clean lines and colors that make a statement. It is a good idea to let the mom help select the invitations so that no mistakes are made. If by chance the shower is a surprise or the mom-to-be does not want to help select invitations, then make sure what you choose does match her style.

Baby shower invitations are the polite and classy way to invite guests to a baby shower. Phone calls and emails are fine for a casual dinner party, but they just do not cut it when it comes to an important life event like a baby shower. While you are choosing your baby shower invitations, make sure you keep thank you cards in mind too. They are another important gesture that is being lost to the digital age.

Stevie Nichols is an event guru who loves to dish about all the details of your event, especially where to get the best deal on baby shower invitations.

Personalized Baby Shower Gift Basket

Category: Baby ShowersJaquelin Michaels @ 8:59 pm

Giving a baby shower gift basket is a wonderful way to give a special and thoughtful gift to the mother to be. Gift baskets are always a fantastic method to give a lot of care in a relatively sizeable package, and whoever you give one to will love the thought and appreciation you put into the gift. Not only that, baby showers are a very unique and special celebration for mothers to be. The new baby is about to come into the world and this party is her last big bash before she fully takes on having a child.

When gift baskets are given out on the holidays, they are based around whatever holiday it is. That should be absolutely no different for a special baby shower gift basket. The day is a once in a lifetime event, even if this is not her first or her only child, each one is special in their own way. The basket should fit the theme and it should also reflect her both her lifestyle and the huge beautiful changes about to happen in her life.

Baby-related items are a must. If you know the sex of the child, placing either pink or blue items in the basket will give it a special touch. They can also be customized gifts for the baby, which the mother to be will love. Cute items are especially used in these gift baskets given the subject matter of a baby shower.

Do not forget that the party is not just about the coming baby, but the focus is also on the mother. The baby shower gift basket you give should have items for her and the baby, not one or the other. So while you can give her things that will help with taking care of the baby or the baby will like, things that are specially for her are appreciated as well. Bath beads and soaps as well as candies are all popular in these types of gift baskets.

A well thought out and customized basket can make the day all that much more special for the soon to be mother. Her new child is just about to be born and the baby shower is a celebration of what is to come. She needs to be aware that the women around her care about her and that they will be around to give love and support when she needs it.

Make sure you give the best gift basket you can. The coming newborn baby might be exciting or even a little intimidating for her, but the baby shower is a time to come together and celebrate. Chances are everyone else will be buying something from a store, while you can be proud to give her a baby shower gift basket that came straight from your heart.

Gift her a gift that she will remember for years to come. A baby shower gift basket is the perfect well thought out gift.

How To Plan A Fantastic Baby Shower party

Category: PregnancyCathy Cripps @ 11:58 pm

Are you hosting a baby shower party for a friend or family member. Baby showers have significantly changed over the last 5 years and have gradually become more and more elaborate and well planned.

Baby showers can make an expectant mother feel more secure in the fact that her friends are all pulling for her and giving moral and financial support. Usually the baby shower is organized by non-relatives. But today, there it isn’t abnormal to find family members, support group members, church friends and pretty much anyone except the expecting mother.

Deciding On The Baby Shower Guest List Inviting the guests? Mostly, the shower guest list will include those people that are nearest and dearest to the expectant mother. If the baby shower isn’t to be a surprise party for the expectant mother then it really wouldn’t hurt to let her have a look so that you can maybe include people you had not thought of. But if it is to be a surprise baby shower party you will need to be more secretive and ask around using family and very close friends for suggestions for the guest list.

If the child is not a firstborn, you may opt to keep the number of guests down to the closest to the mother. Firstborn baby showers tend to have a larger guest list since it is, after all, the mother’s first time.

What you need to remember about the baby shower is that the goal is intimacy. So when planning the baby shower try to include those that are close friends and family.

There are many informal ways that you can choose to invite your guests such as email, phone and other ways. But of course the more traditional way is to send out invitations or letters to the guests that will be attending. This also has the affect of making the baby much more formal event and in many countries is the only acceptable way to invite the guests.

Traditionally All Female But Guys Are Welcome A baby shower party has in the past been traditionally a female only affair. In saying that it is also not strange to be invited and participate in a mixed shower party for girls and guys. This of course firstly depends on whether the guys wish to attend and also whether the shower host and mother-to-be wish to cater for the attendance of guys at the party. After all their intention might be to just have an intimate “Girlie Party”. At the end of the day it is acceptable to have guys at the party but it will come down to the preference of the host.

Choosing The Baby Shower Venue Many baby shower parties are hosted in such places as formal halls, restaurants and even your own backyard. If the truth be told you can actually host a baby shower party anywhere you choose as long as the expectant mother is comfortable and there are amenities for your guests to use. Be warned however that you really need to arrange the location weeks before the shower is scheduled to start to ensure that you will not have crowds using the the same venue which could possible spoil the day for all attending.

When To Hold The Baby Shower Party It is not advisable to host the baby shower to late in the pregnancy as this is a time where the mother needs to be focused and rested for the pending birth. The best time to hold the baby shower is usually between two or three months before the birth. This allows the mother-to-be to have a very pleasant distraction and to see how much support there is for the new arrival. This also gives the guest the opportunity to purchase gifts for the baby that the mother has not had a time to buy herself.

For the mother-to-be there is nothing more pleasant than a baby shower. This type of party is intended to take a lot of the stress away from the expectant mother by showing your support and dedication this takes the attention off the child birth and gives them very pleasant memories for both parents (and of course, all the baby gifts) from the invited guests.

A well organized baby shower will be remembered appreciated forever by mothers long after they have delivered their children. Having a plan and being prepared will reduce the amount of complications and distractions so that you can thoroughly enjoy the baby shower party.

Cathy has been arranging baby showers for many years and with her own Baby Shower website has helped thousands to host memorable baby shower parties from all over the world. Have a question about your pending baby shower then ask your questions here Baby Shower Blog it’s free.

Baby Gift Baskets

Category: Babies and NurseryRene A Lacape @ 9:54 pm

Carriage, now more widely known as pram, is merely one of the things babies are accustomed to nowadays. Babies of today are spoilt with choices, as there are a lot of more things available nowadays. Just take a look at the concept of a baby gift basket. By looking at the various range of the gift baskets available in the market, we are able take a peek of the things that are available for babies these days.

It won’t be acceptable to omit the most basic supplies from the basket. It will include baby toiletries that are made up of items such as baby oil and baby shampoo, talcum powder to get that refreshing ‘eau de enfant’, and an assortment of baby blankets, bottles, washcloths as well as the popular choice of all times, baby booties, to select from.

Baby gift baskets can also be packed according to a theme you have chosen. The most basic theme for baby gift baskets comes in the form of different gift items for boys and girls. Generally gender stereotypes are adopted, which results in all things pink for the baby girl that are said to be made of sugar and spice and everything nice. Whereas blue mittens, blue rattles, bottles with pictures of fire trucks on them and other similar items will go to baby boys to inculcate the concept of masculinity right from the beginning.

A wise choice would be to go for the educational basket if you know of parents that have read or sung to the baby in the tummy during the whole nine months duration, hoping for a baby Einstein. An educational basket would be suitable as it will be made up of educational baby toys and books.

For the parents who have faithfully read / sung to mummy’s tummy throughout the nine months, one can choose to go with the educational basket. As its name suggests, this will be filled to the brim with educational baby toys and books that will all but guarantee a baby Einstein. Or for the parents who believe that all work and no play makes baby a dull boy or girl, a basket can be made up consisting of popularly-themed baby toys, plushiest or even a rocking horse. Consumers who are so inclined could also have a sports-themed basket, all in the hope that the baby on the receiving end will perhaps turn out to be the next Tiger Woods. Themed baby gift baskets are taken a step further when one considers the likes of baskets for twins and the occasional triplets! Clearly, such baskets are not only twice or triple the fun but the price too.

It is never too early for babies to start indulging in haute couture as nowadays they can have their very own monogram embossed or embroidered onto the items. Forgotten were the days of hand-me-down from the first child as parents who are well-off, or friends who might want to impress would willingly invest in such personalized gift items. Baby Shiloh will never have to worry about getting his feeding bib confused with other babies’ feeding bib anymore.

It has been a practice for a long time to present gifts at the baby shower. The occasion pretty much focuses on the mother as well as her baby, resulting in another type of gift baskets – ‘mummy and me’ range. These baskets contain gifts for both the mother and the child, and can be very simple or very extravagant, depending on the choice of the giver. Therefore while the baby gets his or her gifts, the mummy also gets to indulge in a little pre or postnatal pampering too!

Baskets that consist of products of a particular brand only are also available in the market, for those who are a great fan of a particular brand. Customers who grew up with a brand such as Johnson and Johnson and truly believe the efficacy of that product might want to have a gift basket comprising of Johnson and Johnsons products only. These baskets can be found with ease online or at any local store.

Should you be in the market for a gift basket yet feeling quite frightened at the prospect of paying an arm and a leg for your basket of choice, there is always the option of packing your own. As with most endeavors today, start with a quick search on the Internet. You would be amazed at the many possible items and types of wrapping or packaging available. Ideally, you could also supplement the Internet search with craft magazines or other niche industry publications. Jot down the ideas that you like and which you deem practical enough to handle on your own. Then take a quick trip down to the shops and make the necessary purchases. Remember to include the basket itself. Wicker baskets are particularly popular. Or you might want to consider other creative ways of packaging such as using a toy truck or a high chair. Admittedly, these give little meaning to the original term but are a pleasure to receive nonetheless.

So the next time your friend is expecting a baby, you will be ready to add on to the happy news with your very own gift basket!

Party and events are not very easy to handle. But with the right person like Rene Lacape, you can never go wrong. He is the best in his field and his ideas and themes are just excellent. You should experience his organization skills and be prepared to be amazed.

How To Choose Personalized Baby Shower Invitations

Category: Babies and NurseryAnnabelle Shannen @ 6:01 am

Preparing to get ready for a baby shower is an exciting time. Personalized baby shower invitations can go a long way in making a baby shower a special occasion. It does not matter if it is your own baby shower that you are planning, or if you are planning one for a family member or for a close friend, it is always a fun and special even for all the people who are invited.

Everyone knows that the birth of a baby invokes warm and joyful feelings for all concerned and the invitations will help to make it even more special. One of the first tasks to organise is the sending of the invitations. Once you have compiled a list of the people that you want to invite it is then time to begin choosing the invitations themselves, so you can then send them out to everyone. Next, you need to collect all the names and addresses of the people you will be inviting.

Many people decide to spend time creating their own style of personalized invitations but this can be tedious and time consuming. Therefore, if time is a factor you might prefer to rather leave that process to the professionals as it will be much quicker, not to mention much easier. If you prefer it might be a good idea to invite someone who will be attending the baby shower to go along with you to help you to select the invitations as they can offer a second opinion.

It is your choice. There are many styles of invitations available today and you can expect to be spoiled for choice. You may choose to have a different design for every invitation, or you can go with a theme of your own choosing.

Like many women, you might decide to try something different and not make use of cards at all. Again, this is your choice. Depending on the theme you have chosen for the baby shower you could decide to keep everything the same and uniform, or you might not. Precious Moments is a popular theme and if this is the theme that yo are going to use then you will be able to find invitations that tie in with it without any difficulty at all.

If the baby’s gender is already known you can even arrange for that to be reflected on the invitations as well. Of course, you will meed to decide on how many you will need as well as how big or small the invitations should be.

Of course most people will go with blue for a boy and pink for a girl but this is not a hard and fast rule. On the other hand, it does let your guests know what to bring when they come. If you do not want to go with the classic pink and blue colours for the invitations, you can always choose to insert the invites into a pink or blue card. However, this is also your decision.

If you are having a hard time coming up with ideas, try asking your friends or closest family member, they are sure to offer some help if needed. All in all, a baby shower is an exciting event, and it is necessary to share this special experience with as many people as possible!

If You Remember These 4 Simple Kids Clothing Rules You Will Find The Perfect Baby Shower Gift.

Category: Babies and NurseryJennifer Hess @ 1:39 pm

I am a mother of two children (one girl and one boy) and as a result I have received a lot of baby gifts. Some gifts which I have loved and some that sat in the back of the closet. This article is for anybody who is wondering what to buy for a baby shower gift. What most parents need is not the cutest outfit out there; they also need it to be functional.

1) Do not buy blue or pink clothing:

This is a personal preference but I know other mothers who agree with me. When my daughter was born everybody bought her pink clothing. There was so much pink in her closet that I was sick of the colour. Daddy’s and Mommy’s favourite piece of clothing soon became a rusty orange coloured outfit. The colour complemented her skin tone and most importantly – it wasnt pink. That girly colour came back to haunt me for a second time when I had my son -I could not reuse the sleepers, socks and onesies because they were all pink.

Generic coloured clothing means that they can be easily reused and your gift will get more use.

2) Stay away from clothing with snaps or buttons down the back:

Two questions need to be asked when considering the practicality of a gift: 1) Could I get this easily off the baby without waking him/her; and 2) When the diaper leaks can this piece of clothing be removed easily without spreading the mess everywhere?

Your gift will be sent to the back of the closet for the remainder of its useful life the first time it becomes a royal pain to take off or put on the baby.

What moms need are outfits that are cute and practical!

3) If it needs ironing – forget it!

A supermom could run the household perfectly and take care of a newborn – that was not me. Once the exhaustion sets in after having a new baby, most moms consider it an accomplishment some days just to manage to have a shower and get dressed.

The laundry got done, but I never ironed one piece of clothing. The only time my daughter got to wear the adorable frilly outfits is whenever grandma visited and actually ironed them for me. Wash and wear was my motto, if it did not look good without ironing then it wasn’t used.

Remember wash and wear clothing will be appreciated by the new parents.

4) Out of season baby clothes:

How big will the baby be in six or nine months? How can anybody know for sure?

Do not visit the clearance racks for the out of season clothing just so you can buy a lot of quantity at a really good price.

I can guarantee you that no matter what brand name you buy, it will not be a quality gift because you are taking a huge risk that the baby will not be that size when it is finally cold/warm enough to wear it.

From personal experience, I have stored beautiful out of season gifts in the hope to eventually get to use them. In the end when my kids needed the clothing they did not fit so the gifts went from the closet to the storage bin without even being worn once.

The hard part about buying a baby gift is you are really buying a gift for somebody you do not know. We have all received gifts that we have never used because they were not “right” – with some thought that wont happen to your baby gift.

To find a great baby shower gift remember the 4 rules.
